Local Businesses Embrace AI at Chamber Workshops

The Alstonville Wollongbar Chamber of Commerce has successfully delivered two practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshops, helping local business owners discover how AI can save time, improve productivity and unlock new opportunities for growth.

What began as a conversation about emerging technology quickly became something much more valuable: a room full of local businesses working together to solve real business challenges.

Rather than focusing on technical theory, the workshops were designed to give attendees practical skills they could apply immediately. Participants explored the AI platforms best suited to small businesses, learned how to write effective prompts, discussed responsible and secure use of AI, and worked through real business scenarios, including writing marketing content, customer communications, streamlining administration and planning.

The workshops were facilitated by local marketing strategist and AI advisor Sonja Ceri, who encouraged attendees to bring genuine business challenges to the sessions.

"AI isn't about replacing people," Sonja said. "It's about giving small business owners more time to focus on the work that creates value, building relationships, serving customers and growing their businesses."

Throughout both sessions, attendees shared ideas, tested new tools and left with practical workflows they could begin using immediately. The collaborative nature of the workshops reflected exactly what the Chamber exists to do: connect local businesses, encourage knowledge sharing and support innovation across our community.

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday business, regardless of industry. Whether it's drafting emails, creating marketing content, analysing information, preparing proposals or improving customer service, AI is giving small businesses access to capabilities that were once only available to much larger organisations.

For the Chamber, these workshops represent more than a successful professional development event. They demonstrate a commitment to ensuring businesses across Alstonville and Wollongbar have access to the knowledge and tools they need to remain competitive in a rapidly changing business environment.

Following the strong response from members and the wider business community, the Chamber is exploring opportunities to deliver additional AI education and digital capability workshops in the future.
