A New Chapter for Alstonville: Cultural Centre Upgrade Signals Confidence in Our Community

Big things are happening in Alstonville.

Construction is now underway on the $18.2 million redevelopment of the Alstonville Cultural Centre, one of the most significant community investments our region has seen in recent years. When completed in 2027, the upgraded facility will provide a modern, accessible and sustainable community hub designed to serve the growing Alstonville and Wollongbar communities for decades to come.

At the heart of the project is a dramatically expanded two-storey library, increasing from 145 square metres to more than 750 square metres. The new space will feature dedicated children's areas, study and digital learning spaces, meeting rooms and flexible community spaces that reflect how people learn, work and connect today.

But this project is about far more than bricks and mortar.

For our business community, investments like this send a strong message. They demonstrate confidence in the future of Alstonville and Wollongbar as places where families choose to live, businesses choose to invest, and communities continue to grow.

The redevelopment will also include:

  • A larger sports hall and upgraded community facilities
  • Improved accessibility throughout the site
  • New meeting rooms available for community use
  • Modern amenities and air-conditioned multipurpose spaces
  • Solar power and other sustainability improvements
  • New landscaping and improved public access

While construction is underway, library services have temporarily relocated to the Wollongbar Community Hall, ensuring residents continue to have access to library resources and programs throughout the build.

As a Chamber, we know thriving communities need more than successful businesses—they need great public spaces where people can gather, learn, collaborate and build connections. Projects like this help create vibrant town centres that attract visitors, support local events and strengthen the local economy.
